# Felix Baßler

> Berlin-based photographic artist building experimental cameras — a fully mechanical slit-scan camera and an image-to-text edge computing camera — alongside digitizing and archiving photographic materials for archives and cultural institutions.

Based in Berlin. Part of All-In-Awe (https://all-in-awe.org). Work and research recently supported by the Bauhaus Fellowship at Klassik Stiftung Weimar (2025) and the Goethe-Institut India (2024), with recent international exhibitions in Sydney, Cairo, Bydgoszcz, Minneapolis, Zurich, and Berlin.

## Selected Projects

### Image-to-text edge computing camera (2026)
Camera with immediate on-device analysis of image data right after capture. Processing runs entirely locally — no internet, cloud, or Wi-Fi — on a hybrid architecture of Moondream for visual processing and Mistral for language logic.

### Mechanically engineered slit-scan camera (2025)
Fully mechanical slit-scan camera, developed and built exclusively with materials, tools, and techniques available around 100 years ago: multiplex wood, a wind-up Märklin spring motor from 1929, traditional metalwork, a handcrafted glass spirit level, shellac and soot. Conceived as an artifact of an alternative technological history, extending László Moholy-Nagy's New Vision. Photographs © Klassik Stiftung Weimar.
